The Spring Auction has become a tradition at St. Dominic. This year's Auction will be held on April 28, 2007. Parents, students, alumni, faculty, and friends come together and through their hard work and involvement make the St. Dominic Auction one of the most successful on Long Island.

On the evening of the auction, the Sports Center is transformed into an elegant Spring setting where cocktails and dinner are served before the live auction. During the evening, guests promenade up and down the rows of silent auction items and place their bids on everything from televisions to jewelry.

St. Dominic of Oyster Bay has been providing excellence in education for over 80 years. The schools offer Pre-K through twelfth grade. St. Dominic continues to be synonymous with dedicated teachers, outstanding programs, and the opportunity to pursue personal potential. Our students today are here because the Auction has helped us maintain a tradition of excellence and a foundation of faith in God and in themselves. Proceeds from the auction are divided between the elementary and high school and are used to further program enrichment.

The St. Dominic Spring Auction began in 1989, with Mrs. Lynn Robinson and Mr. Joe Ronan as chairpersons, raising approximately $30,000. The 1989 auction consisted of live, silent and a balloon auction. Through the years, a journal, raffle and sponsorship portions were added. The Spring Auction has become the major fundraiser for our schools raising over $3,000,000 for our children.

In 1994 the tradition of honoring a special individual, family or group was begun. Honorees are chosen for their commitment to excellence in education at St. Dominic Schools. Their dedication to our Spring Auction has greatly enriched the educational programs offered to all the students at St. Dominic's. Nominations for this year's honoree are now being accepted.

The auction is a broad collection of all the time and talent of our parent and student volunteers. A special thank you to all the high school students who volunteer on the evening of the auction each year, as well as the High School Faculty, the staff behind the bar, and the entire maintenance staff. Also a thank you to The Elementary Home School Association and the High School Parents Club & Alumni Association who are always willing to lend a hand where needed.
